The Mannkal Economic Education Foundation (Mannkal) and Economists for Ukraine (E4U) are now accepting submissions for the Ideas Have Consequences Contest. The winner and the top five finalists will present their projects at one selected Free Market Road Show (FMRS) event in April/May 2024. The winner selected by the prize committee will receive a free round-trip and accommodations to Perth, Melbourne, and Sydney, Australia, to give public presentations.
About the Ideas Have Consequences Contest (IHCC)
The IHCC aims to recognize and encourage undergraduate student scholarship, developing formal research projects and policy documents to rebuild Ukraine's post-war economy. The Mannkal and E4U invite essays exploring, advancing, challenging, or applying the ideas of post-war reconstruction.
We hope students can develop the suggestions made by Ron Manners AO in the Warsaw/Kyiv FMRS speech to create/identify/design policies for rebuilding Ukraine's post-war economy. The damage to Ukraine's infrastructure and economy from Russia's war exceeds $700 billion. E4U is developing frameworks and collaboration networks to support current and future reconstruction efforts. You can learn more here.
The deadline for submissions to the IHCC is Friday, October 20, 2023.
A prize committee composed of the Mannkal and E4U will review all eligible submissions. The winner and top five finalists will be notified in late October and invited to present their projects at one selected FMRS event in April/May 2024. Please continue reading for more information about the prizes, rules of eligibility, and submission guidelines.
